Our Studies
The COVE: Afterschool is The Novelty Collective’s creative program for local middle school & high school students. Providing access to the arts for our young people has never been more important as schools across the country continue to defund art & music programs. With ten different studios to choose from, there is a creative outlet waiting to be discovered for every child who walks into The COVE Art Center.
Afterschool offers a variety of enrichment opportunities, but how to engage is left up to the student. With nothing but free time for the first half of our day, program participants can pick up entry-level projects, follow creative prompts, or ask a leader to help them in any one of The COVE’s many art studios. There are also several different art workshops available during the school year. Talented adult artists from our community have come to teach our students a variety of special skills, such as sewing, painting, jewelry making, needle felting, & even improv acting!
Students are free to participate as much or as little as they like, with no commitment or cost attached. They can come at any time & leave at any time. Giving kids space to play, to rest, & to complete homework assignments while their parents are still at work are all important ways we get to care for them.
While access to the arts is a core component of our mission, our heart for NoCo’s youth program is Bible study. We believe that learning to understand the Bible is vital to knowing who God is & how He interacts with us. The curriculum changes every year, but our central message never changes. Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” (Matthew 19:14) The COVE: Afterschool is the only chance some of our students have to learn about God & faith, so we take this sacred responsibility seriously.
The Novelty Collective is all about learning, growing, & creating in community. Whether intentional or by default, whatever we impart to our children now will affect their future & the future of the world we all live in. Afterschool exists to make a lasting, positive impact on our students & set them on a path to live fully into their purpose so they can create a better future for themselves & the people around them,
Afterschool returns this Winter, starting Monday, February 9th, 2026!
Student Registration
If you are interested in setting your child up to attend Afterschool, please tap the link below to access our registration form. Remember, this is a free program with no obligation on your part or ours. Your child is always welcome to try it out & decide whether it’s something they enjoy, or come for a season, take a break—for sports, extracurricular activities, or other reasons—& come back when they are ready.
We always encourage parents to visit us with their child early on into attendance so they can meet our team & see what we are all about! Please let us know if that is something you would like to do, & we will schedule a time for you.
